The culprit uncovered
According to a Maryland State Police report, Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) was traveling at a “high rate of speed” prior to his involvement in a car accident in Maryland over the weekend.
The report, obtained by The Hill, indicates that a witness observed Fetterman’s vehicle “traveling at a high rate of speed, well over the posted speed limit,” when it passed her on Sunday morning.
Fetterman, driving a Chevrolet Traverse, rear-ended a Chevrolet Impala “shortly” after passing the witness.
The report notes that the highway’s speed limit was 70 mph, and both vehicles involved were towed from the scene.
Fetterman, his wife, and the driver of the other vehicle were all taken to a hospital following the crash.
The police report assigns fault to Fetterman for the incident.
“This was an unfortunate accident and I’m relieved and grateful that there were no serious injuries. I need to do better and do it slower – and I will,” Fetterman stated in a comment to The Hill.
Fetterman’s office reported that both he and his wife, Giselle, were “doing well” after the accident.
They were evaluated at a local hospital and discharged that afternoon after Fetterman received treatment for a bruised shoulder.
Fetterman expressed gratitude for the well wishes in a video posted on social media platform X earlier this week.
You might have heard G and I were in a car accident yesterday. Thank you all for the well wishes.

“Not the best way to spend our 16th wedding anniversary but we’re doing well and happy to be back home in Braddock with the family,” he wrote.
Maryland State Police confirmed that the “crash investigation remains active and ongoing,” and noted that no citations have been issued.
Fetterman’s health history
Fetterman needs to take better care of himself.
After suffering a stroke during his campaign for Senate, many have expressed concerns about his health.
The fallout from that health issue saw him check himself into a hospital for depression immediately after winning the office.
The last thing he needs is to joy ride around at high speeds.
