And in a recent performance, Tenacious D, the band led by Kung Fu Panda star Jack Black, made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
During their concert in Sydney, Australia, a band member took a shocking jab at former President Donald Trump, just a day after he survived an assassination attempt.
Amid their set, one of the band members shouted, “don’t miss Trump next time,” sparking outrage and controversy.
Although it’s unclear which member made the remark, reports suggest it may have been Kyle Gass.
Such statements are not only tasteless but also illegal, as expressing a wish for the death of a U.S. president is a federal crime.
Jack Black, widely known for his role as the voice of Po in the Kung Fu Panda movies, has been actively involved in political events.
He recently performed at a Hollywood fundraiser for Joe Biden in June, joining other celebrities like George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
During the event, Black sported a “Dark Brandon”-themed t-shirt, showing his support for Biden.
Interestingly, George Clooney, who shared the stage with Black at the fundraiser, reversed his endorsement of Biden last week, urging the president to drop out of the campaign after a poor debate performance.
Jack Black’s political journey has seen some changes over the years.
In 2020, he wasn’t initially a Biden supporter; instead, he endorsed Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and criticized Trump, aiming to “save the world from Trumpian destruction.”
However, as the Democratic primaries progressed, Black eventually supported Biden, aligning with the party’s push for unity.
Hollywood’s relationship with Trump has been tumultuous, often marked by violent rhetoric and fantasies of harm towards the 45th president.
The recent incident with Tenacious D is just another example of the ongoing hostility between the entertainment industry and Trump.
